Our story
Before eo5 was a hotel company, East 05 was the apartment at NIU where our founder lived. The east building, apartment 05. On paper, student housing. In practice, the place people came back to. The couch was for whoever needed it. The beer was for celebrating an achievement or sitting through a rough week. The door stayed open because that was easier than keeping track of who was family that week.
The friends who showed up back then, some of whom are investors now, shortened the name the way college friends shorten everything. East 05 became East-O, now eo5. The name stuck because the feeling did.
01
The name
The name is a nod to where it came from. The feeling is what we try to recreate in every property we build and operate.
What made East 05 memorable wasn't the furniture or the floor plan. It was the habit of the place: open doors, open fridge, open ears. The certainty that someone would notice you before you had to speak up.
That habit is the real asset of eo5. Not a logo or a tagline. A standard of care that makes a guest feel less like a transaction and more like an invitation. We kept the name because it reminds us what kind of company we strive to be.

02
The translation
What worked at East 05 was simple: the kind of care that made anyone walking in feel invited to stay. The certainty that this was a place you could count on. That's what eo5 is built to deliver, now in a professional setting.
Brand standards are our floor, not our ceiling. Above the checklist is the real work: reading a room the moment a guest walks in, solving problems before they surface, extending small, well-timed courtesies that a spreadsheet would never think to require.
We develop our properties and operate them ourselves for exactly this reason. Care of that grain can't be outsourced. It has to be designed in, hired for, trained toward, and defended every day.

Our founder
Pramit Patel, Founder & CEO
Pramit went to NIU and lived at East 05. The friendships he made there, the open-door nights, the same people who became early investors in eo5, still set the standard for every property he builds.
"Real hospitality is what happens before anyone has to speak up. It's the room that already knows what kind of day you had. It's the feeling of being expected."
That's the bar. Not a scripted greeting or a mint on the pillow, but teams who are trained to notice, trusted to act, and generous by instinct, offering stays that feel less like a transaction and more like an invitation.
And it extends past the front desk. Every eo5 property is built and operated to be a good neighbor to the town it sits in: partnering with local businesses, showing up for the community, and putting real weight behind the places that make a stay worth taking in the first place.
